Obvious Reasons

• The course is aligned with both the National Art Standards and State Standards
• It challenges highly motivated high school students to perform at the college level
• Students may receive placement and/or credit in college   (Check individual schools for qualifying scores)
• The student creates a sophisticated body of work (portfolio) which helps students stand out  in the college admission process by demonstrating:
                    Commitment to academic excellence
Study habits necessary for rigorous course work
                    Advanced creative problem solving skills

Not So Obvious Reasons

• Students may use the portfolio to apply for scholarships
• Enriches their secondary and post secondary school experiences
• Allows for exploration of the visual world in a broader context
• Enables students to explore a variety of perspectives of the world, and most importantly, their own vision and creative journey
• Develops self-confidence through personal creative growth
•The student becomes a member of a rich and supportive artist community that may last a lifetime
