Objectives:

1. Understand what a collage is
2. Create a collage using a variety of hand-made backgrounds using a variety of tools and media
3. Use paint and oil pastel to create stunning animal eyes which will appear to be in front of the collage and not distracted by the background.
4. Be able to document the thought process and reflect on the process of art-making and decision making
5. Research information on artists from past and present who use collage and mixed media in their work..

Step 1: Create 6-8 pages of background collage pages.

1. Crayon (to music!) 
Pay attention to mark-making quality as music changes.     Random scribbles,  DON'T plan it out
2. Oil pastel   More patterned, expressive, shapes, layering, sgraffito
3. Black marker   Not scribbled, create doodles and use a variety of line/value
4. Paint - warm colors
5. Paint with stamps
6. Paint- cool colors
7. Newspaper, text, writing
8. One more- your choice
