Composition Challenge!
- As you know, composition is a key secret to making great art!
- Composition can make even boring objects look interesting.
- Today you will be challenged to prove that even objects like paperclips, rubber bands and pencil shavings can become interesting when arranged well!
Your challenge:
Form a small group or compete against each other and create the BEST "macro" photo of something very small. You must use the following items: paperclips; thumbtacks or rubber bands; pencil shavings from hand-held sharpener; and one item of your choosing.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN!
Check out the following links and scan/read them quickly to get some good tips for taking close up (macro) shots with your phone.
Helpful hints: One person can distribute the paperclips, one person the rubber bands, one person the thumbtacks, one person can get the pencil sharpeners passed out- you may need to share these! Each group needs to plan each photo, make sure you don't have any unnecessary distractions in the background.
Final reminders: Think about filling the picture plane, establishing a focal point, using the Rule of Thirds and creating variety. You may also want to think about paper under/behind your subjects, lighting (flashlights on your phones?!) and try different filters to see which are the most effective!
