Artist Statement

The point of the assignment was to create surrealistic piece, and my painting was inspired by intricate embroidery patterns and creation itself. The hands are meant to be the “hands of creation”, stitching everything in the universe into existence. I feel the most difficult thing in making my piece was to add the appearance of thread on the planet and the closest stars. While the stars were hard to place, I enjoyed drawing them on, as well as painting the hands. The hands are my favourite part of the painting, as I really like the shading and how it stands out. I feel I could have done a better job on how the hand that is supporting the planet looked, I like the hand that is doing the embroidery better. Nonetheless, I am proud of how I did on this assignment, because I feel I put more effort into it then I usually do.
